Handpicked Festival

Music and wine come together this weekend as Handpicked Festival returns to Langhorne Creek. This party is set to be a big one with Hot Dub Time Machine headlining a stacked line-up that includes Hilltop Hoods, The Rubens and Meg Mac, among others. Handpicked Festival is a part of MusicSA’s Good Music Month, set to highlight the state’s thriving musical scene throughout November. Handpicked Festival takes place at Lake Breeze Wines, on Step Road at Langhorne Creek this Saturday, November 8, from 1.20pm.

Adelaide Italian Festival

Be transported to the streets of Italy this month for the Adelaide Italian Festival. This open-access event features a program of more than 60 events showcasing Italian culture. In a first for the festival, Festival Plaza will be transformed into Festa in the Plaza on November 7 and 8, with Italian food and beverage vendors, music, dancing and design. Other highlights include the annual Journey Mass at St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral, a screening of the House of Gucci at Palace Nova Eastend, the Pranzo in the Piazza long lunch at Roma Adelaide and a picturesque bike ride through McLaren Vale for La Grande Gita.

Barossa Rodeo

South Australia’s best cowboys and cowgirls will put their skills to the test at the Barossa Rodeo. This action-packed day features team roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and breakaway roping. There’ll also be market stalls, live music, food trucks and a licensed bar, as well as free kids’ activities such as face painting and interactive games. The Barossa Rodeo takes place in Lyndoch on Saturday, November 8.

Nature Photographer of the Year exhibition

The planet’s incredible flora and fauna are being showcased at the 2025 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year exhibition at the South Australian Museum until February 1, 2026. Western Australian photographer Ross Gudgeon won this year’s $10,000 top prize with his entry Fractal Forest, described as a “psychedelic inside-out macro view of a cauliflower soft coral”, while Isabella Rogers won the junior competition for her photo of two galahs perched on a lamp post at dawn. The competition also includes eight other categories ranging from Animals in Nature to Threatened Species and Monochrome, with each winner receiving a $1500 prize.

City of Adelaide Christmas

Mark your advent calendars because the festive season is fast approaching and the City of Adelaide has plenty in store. It all kicks off next weekend on Saturday, November 15 with the Giant Christmas Tree Lighting from 6pm at Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga. There will be entertainment and festivities with plenty of space for picnic blankets. The Christmas Tree Lighting is a hallmark event of the festive season, along with the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant as Adelaide welcomes Santa Claus to town this weekend on Saturday, November 8 at 9.30am.

Adelaide Central School of Art exhibition 

Head to the Adelaide Central School of Art at Glenside for its annual fundraiser, Wish You Were Here! The exhibition features postcard-sized artworks donated by emerging and established artists across the country, which depict everything from still life oil paintings of fruits and flowers to watercolours of landscapes and seascapes, as well as an exquisite wooden framed oil painting of a moth featuring muted soft pinks and browns. All artworks cost $80, with proceeds supporting the Adelaide Central Gallery’s 2026 exhibition program. This exhibition is on display from November 9 to 14.
