Powerhouse picks two board advisers

The Brisbane Powerhouse has established a First Nations Advisory Committee and appointed two new board members, Toni Janke and Luke Furness.

Janke is a consultant and singer/songwriter and Furness is a commercial lawyer. He would provide legal and risk guidance and support the evolution of the Powerhouse’s queer arts programs including the Melt Festival.

The First Nations Advisory Committee would be chaired by Janke as well as Jungaji Brady and Angelina Hurley.

Cromwell picks up Foster

Real estate investor and fund manager Cromwell Property has appointed Michael Foster as company secretary.

Leaf’s two new directors

Leaf Resources has added Pai-Heng Cheng and Maurizo Fabiani to its board.

Both would work closely with the executive on the development of Leaf’s flagship project in New Zealand.

It’s Professor Bethune now

Graeme Bethune is now Adjunct Professor at University of Queensland Centre for Natural Gas.

Bethune is a veteran of the gas sector and has headed EnergyQuest for 18 years, but before that was a senior executive in Santos.

Brisbane Committee adds one

The Committee for Brisbane has added Gert-Jan de Graff to its advisory council.

De Graff is the chief executive of Brisbane Airport Corporation.

Minahan to head sports initiative

Griffith University has announced that Associate Professor Clare Minahan had been chosen by the Australian Institute of Sport to lead the female participation and health initiative.

Minahan would be leading two major research groups to optimise the performance of female athletes.

Rowe pulls stumps at Super Retail

Super Retail founder Reg Rowe has retired from the company’s board after starting the company as a mail order business in 1972.

Rowe’s decision paves the way for his long time adviser Mark O’Hara to join the board of the company.

Media moves

After three-and-a-half years at Transport and Main Roads, Jim Morton announced he was starting an “exciting new chapter by moving to the Department of the Premier and Cabinet (Queensland) as Manager of External Relations and Services. Thanks to all my great colleagues at TMR for their friendship and support”.

Morton was a media adviser in TMR.

Kirsten Ram has also started as a media adviser to the Brisbane City Council opposition leader. She previously worked for the State Government.

Catherine Spalding will also start at Queensland Hydro as a senior communications adviser.  She previously worked for Wiley and Smith’s Lawyers
